Do you have experience in risk management from a business and programme perspective, know what is important to governance committees and senior management and have the ability to quickly build effective, professional business relationships?   If so, then this 2-year Fixed Term role could be the one for you!


The Risk Services team makes a significant contribution to Inland Revenue's outcomes through the provision of risk related information and advice across the organisation.

 

As one of our three Principal Advisors, your key purpose will be to provide expert advice, risk leadership and support to stakeholders throughout the organisation to enable the effective management of risks and issues.  You will add value working directly with senior leadership teams developing strong and effective relationships in order to inform and influence risk management strategies and outcomes. In addition you will provide ad hoc support to projects and change initiatives.

 

To succeed in this role, it is essential that you possess:

 

  • Strong relationship management, communication, negotiation  and influencing skills
  • A strong customer focus, service-orientation and ability to work closely with the business to understand their needs, opportunities and challenges
  • An understanding of, and the ability to develop, integrated reporting that contributes to management's decision making processes – particularly at senior levels
  • Familiarity with the nature and function of reporting to governance boards or committees, whether executive, external membership or mixed
  • Demonstrated experience of working across various Risk disciplines to gain a broad understanding of the functions, processes and practises required to have a highly effective risk management system operating across IR
  • Experience working in large, complex and integrated environments
  • Ability and experience in providing consultancy advice to senior management
  • Familiarity around the strategic formation of business cases and the development of Risk frameworks, best practice models and guidance
  • The ability to challenge ‘the norm' and to mentor/ up-skill less experienced colleagues
