Inland Revenue is currently reinventing itself as a modern revenue organisation.  This transformation will bring about significant change to the way we operate and how we interact with our customers.  We're making the tax system simpler, more open and certain for New Zealanders to pay their taxes and receive their entitlements.  This is one of the largest transformation programmes in New Zealand's history.

In support of this direction, the recently appointed Legal Services Leader (a direct report to the Deputy Commissioner Customer & Compliance Services – Business), is recruiting for a Group Lead.  The Legal Services unit works to improve long term compliance through providing quality legal and technical advice and litigation services.

As a Group Lead you will a key member of the Legal Services Leadership team.  As a leader of leaders you will accountable for building capability across your team and instrumental in bringing together and building a trusted business partnership model for the unit.  As your teams are based across New Zealand, travel is a requirement of the role. We would expect you to demonstrate proven change management and leadership skills.  You will be legally qualified and hold a current practicing certificate. Your strong technical skills will enable you to ensure that significant tax technical issues and decisions are managed efficiently and accurately.  You will be committed to coaching your team to succeed and will project and support a learning environment for your people.  You will possess excellent communication skills, be an effective collaborator and a strong team player.  Litigation and tax experience is preferred.
