  • Do you enjoy leading, coaching and developing others?
  • Are you looking for an opportunity to utilise your leadership skills?

About us

Here at Inland Revenue (IR) we are well advanced into a multi-year business transformation which will modernise our entire operation. As a customer-centric organisation, IR's goal is to give customers the best possible experience when using the NZ tax system. This is resulting in significant changes to how we operate and engage with customers, and the way that our people undertake their work. This is an ideal time to challenge yourself at an exciting time!

About the role

The Legal Services unit sits within the newly formed Customer & Compliance Services group (CCS) and this particular leadership role will head up the Advice team in Takapuna. With a team made up of Solicitors (at different levels) and Technical Specialists, you'll enjoy getting results and solving problems through your people rather than being ‘hands on' with your own technical caseload.

You will:

  • support and lead your team to provide tax technical legal advice across a variety of segments
  • enable and motivate the team to work both proactively and reactively to help customers to get it right from the start
  • foster a team environment and standard of delivery with a high level of customer service, solution focus and value add.

What you'll need to bring to the role

  • strong people leadership skills and obvious motivation for helping your team members develop and grow
  • existing senior-level experience in a legal or business advisory context
  • a NZ Practising Certificate, or ability to hold one
  • an innovative and solution focused approach
  • excellent relationship management ability to work effectively with our customer groups and wider networks
  • sound decision making and compliance management skills with a focus on the customer experience.

In return, we will offer you a supportive environment and an opportunity to make your mark while growing your experience as a leader.
