Job Specification

Can you make the complex simple, and know what it means to effectively communicate internally through large-scale change?

We're transforming here at Inland Revenue (IR); we're making the tax system simpler, more open and certain for New Zealanders to pay their taxes and receive their entitlements.

To further this, a 12-month fixed term opportunity has arisen in our Marketing & Communications group for a proven internal Communications Manager.  We need someone with mana, who understands what it means to communicate internally through large-scale change.

Your team supports each member of the Executive Leadership Team with communications to their business units.  Another part of the team manages all of the organisation-wide communications.  Personally, you'll work closely with our People & Culture and Change leadership teams to agree and implement internal communications during a period of significant change.

Finally, you'll help us decide the role of internal communications in our organisation's future.

  • The executive leadership team will look to you for advice on managing communications through this change, so you will have significant experience at this level.

  • Experience working in a large complex organisation going through enterprise scale change is essential.

  • You'll be an experienced people manager, who enjoys coaching a team of communications professionals, maintaining our culture of innovation, collaboration and smart & effective delivery.

Underpinning all this is your ability to make the complex simple. You can quickly grasp the crux of complex information, and can disseminate key messaging out to internal staff.

So why come and work with us?  You'll play a critical part of one of the largest transformations in New Zealand. The team here know their stuff, and they're good at what they do.  You'll be working with a manager who is committed to the group, and helping Inland Revenue on the journey to becoming truly customer centric, intelligence led and agile.  Location wise, you'll be based in the stunning Asteron Centre, a minute from Wellington's train station and transport hub.

To apply, please click on ‘apply' and submit a cover letter along with your CV outlining the skills, knowledge and experience you will bring to the position.
