At Inland Revenue (IR), we're making the tax system simpler, more open and certain for New Zealanders.  We're currently undertaking a major change programme as we transform the NZ tax and social policy system. 


We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Communications Advisor to join us on a fixed term and/or secondment basis until the end of June 2019. The Senior Communications Advisor will support the Intelligence Led Programme including Information Knowledge Management, Advanced Analytics and Business Intelligence and Workplace technology).


The focus of the role will be on IR's internal audiences, from senior stakeholders through to the front line staff, across all stages of the Intelligence Led Programme lifecycle.


Reporting to the Communications & Stakeholder Management Lead, you will support the Intelligence Led Change Lead providing communications delivery and contribute to communication planning.

You'll be in charge of the following:

ü  Maintain the Intel Led communications and stakeholder management plans to internal audiences within Inland Revenue

ü  Ensure the communications plan aligns with the change schedule and deliver programme/work stream messaging across all phases

ü  Working closely with the Internal Communications Team to merge BT messaging into IR communications and create compelling content from complex information 

ü  Working with other advisors in the Communications & Stakeholder Management team, develop content for the BT channels including newsletters, scripts, presentations, the internet, intranet and original media.


What you'll bring to the role:

  • Experience using the full range of channels including intranet and internet, events, newsletters, articles, presentations, videos, speeches and original media.
  • Outstanding written skills, including the ability to turn technical information into engaging readable material without losing the meaning.
  • Transformation or large programme experience gained within the public or private sector.
  • A proven ability to run the full lifecycle of communications projects, from initiation through to successful delivery, tying off any loose ends. We'll be looking to see your solid experience in creating communications plans, demonstrating attention to detail and rigour in your approach.
  • The ability to adapt your message to suit your audience; you'll be working with a broad range of people at Inland Revenue, from operational through to senior executives.
  • Experience in mentoring or guiding team members.
  • An ability to adapt quickly to new situations and requirements, and meet deadlines.


Underpinning this is your pragmatism and ability to work at pace; you're someone who makes things happen. This is a senior level role, so we'll be looking to see your ability to work at both an operational and strategic view.
