Inland Revenue is an exciting place to be working in Health, Safety and Wellbeing. We're right in the middle of a major business transformation programme that will bring significant improvements to how New Zealand pays its taxes, as well as internally reshaping our business so as to better serve our customers, internally and within New Zealand.

We're also in a time of development and consolidation in our Health, Safety and Wellbeing team, with significant redevelopment of our Health, Safety and Wellbeing framework, processes and procedures. We are aiming for international best practice, with a close eye on ISO45001.

As a Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor with Inland Revenue, you'll be working in a close-knit team. You'll be allocated sites that you directly support through their Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committees and people leaders with key questions, and through risk and injury management processes.

You'll also be involved in mentoring and training your reps and less experienced members of the HSW team. In turn, you'll be offered mentoring and development opportunities. Depending on your background and experience, you could be leading projects to develop our framework. Your expertise will be called on in all sorts of ways in a dynamic and interesting role. Inland Revenue uses ISO31000 for our risk framework, and we expect that you would be familiar and experienced in its application.

We're looking for graduate-level qualifications (level 7 or better on the NZQA framework, or equivalent international qualifications) and Graduate membership or higher in a recognised professional health and safety body such as IOSH or NZISM, with current CPD.

You'll have at least 6 years' experience working directly in health and safety, with at least a year of that in a hands-on role. You'll be able to go and find solutions to issues and research best practice, in a peer-reviewed and supportive team environment. You'll be comfortable and relaxed delivering training to small and large groups in an engaging way.

One or more of the following would be advantageous:

  • Work in a high-risk industry
  • Experience in both public and private sectors
  • Experience supporting mental health and mental wellbeing in a risk-based way

Key internal stakeholders include our Corporate Risk and Assurance, Corporate Legal, Facilities' Management, Procurement, and People teams, as well as people leaders, elected reps, our unions, and Inland Revenue's people (contracted and employed).

This position is located opposite Wellington Railway Station in a modern and spacious office, close to shops and the waterfront.
