Job Specification

Inland Revenue (IR) is transforming; we're making it easier for customers to do business with us. We're listening and working collaboratively with customers, agencies across government, and in the private sector as we design new processes and services.

The newly-created role of Group Lead, Analytics is a key position within the leadership team of the newly formed Information & Intelligence Services (IIS) group, and will champion IR's intelligence–led and customer-centric culture.

The analytics environment you shape impacts the organisation as a whole; we need someone who truly collaborates, who understands that analytics feed and inform broader strategy and business decisions.  So your nurturing of relationships with your colleagues such as our Customer Segment Leaders, our Marketing, Intelligence, and Research teams (among others) is critical as part of a connected and empowered organisation.

We'll be looking to see:

  • Your significant experience in leading analytical teams who inform and enable business planning and outcomes. Our highly capable team are spread across New Zealand, so we need to see your comfort leading and engaging geographically diverse groups.
  • An understanding of intelligence-led campaigns, founded on your depth of experience in data, analytics and relevant platforms, with the ability to apply advanced analytics, data modelling and data science.
  • Being a recognised authority and thought-leader in your area, with an understanding of broader systems context.  We want to see your passion for what you do every day, and your ability to tell the story of the data.
  • A strong record of delivery of analytics projects that inform business activities, and a demonstrable ability to build partnerships with teams that consume analytics products
  • Technical stewardship and accountability for 'best practice'/standards in a large and complex organisation. You lead our leaders, you're a pragmatist, and you care.

As our Group Lead Analytics, you will partner with other leaders to develop and deliver an integrated data strategy to represent IR, and our partner agencies, in different contexts. You will have the appropriate credibility, skills and knowledge to provide services to M?ori in the spirit of the Treaty of Waitangi.

The team here care very deeply about providing a quality service for our customers; our front-line experts provide help and guidance to a hugely diverse customer base, covering New Zealand and abroad, informed by the analytics and insights generated by you and your IIS colleagues.  You'll be working alongside genuine people who strive to make a difference - strategic thinkers with an action bias.
